A wonderful day in Panoche Valley - Huge flocks of Mountain Bluebirds, THREE!!! Golden Eagles, and some great views of male and female Phainopeplas.
The Magpie population seems to have increased. Yellow-billed Magpies were in precipitous decline due to West Nile Virus. My companion Leena thought maybe the previous couple of years of drought had decreased the mosquito population, allowing the Magpies to recover. Good thought that - always a silver lining!
